***Covid-19 response*** (click here for our Coronavirus Assistance Program if you want to receive or donate groceries)
Boundary Community Church is continuing to meet each week during the pandemic. For everyone's safety, and to show our solidarity with all Canadians who are practicing social distancing, we will no longer be meeting inside our building. The services will now be held outside at the James McMynn park in Midway opposite the community centre at a later, warmer, time of 2:00pm. We will have cones set out at two-metre intervals where you are invited to either stand or to sit on your own chair brought from home. The service will last about half an hour and include a prayer, a hymn and the preaching of the gospel. We ask that no-one shakes hands or talks too closely with anyone so as to maintain our "gold standard" of safety.
Because of the range of reactions people have had to this outbreak, some will wonder why we do not continue to meet in our building (we are consistently under 50 people in attendance) while others will wonder why we are continuing to meet at all when most other groups of this size are suspended. The solution we are putting in place seeks to do two things. First, to make it clear that we are taking the health and safety of the Boundary community seriously, especially those who are most vulnerable. But second, to show that the preaching of the gospel, in person, combined with communal prayer and worship, is absolutely imperative during a crisis and that we are willing to go to some eccentric lengths to do church. We believe that we have found a solution that allows us to meet together at no risk to anyone. No-one in attendance will touch any of the same surfaces or come into contact any closer than the current advice permits. Yet, we will be gathered and where two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus, there will He be also!
Please remember to wrap up warm, perhaps with a thermos of hot coffee or tea, and use your washroom before you come as there will not be washrooms available at the park. Keeping your gloves on will help you to remember not to touch anyone.
My name is Michael - I, my wife Lisa and our baby Damian moved to the boundary region last year so I could pastor this church. I preach the gospel
every Sunday at our 10am service and would like to extend a warm welcome to you to come and visit us to hear a message that I believe is of the utmost importance.
If you've never been to a church before, or if its been a while, you will find the people approachable and friendly - nobody will put you on the spot or make you feel uncomfortable! If you are a Christian but are new to the area and are looking for a new church family, you will feel at home here right away. Our services last about an hour.
If you have any questions, or would like to meet in person, don't hesitate to call me on the number listed. We hope to see you soon!
